The UN recommendation to the UK government to suspend Prevent and to pay reparations for those harmed as a direct result of Prevent is the strongest recommendation that the UN has ever been put forward on Prevent.
This webinar offers a glimpse at the evidence delivered to the United Nations from a collective submission, of which Prevent Watch, Runnymede and RSI were a part.
It forms both an oral documentation of the 2024 UN submission and a call for action as a collective, and next steps.
The panel members are:
- Prof John Holmwood, Prof Emeritus at University of Nottingham, and co-author of the People’s Review of Prevent
- Alba Kapoor, head of policy at the Runnymede Trust, in particular its anti-racist agenda.
- Sabha Hussein, migration and citizenship team leader at Rights and Security International (RSI).
The webinar is chaired by Dr Layla Aitlhadj, director of Prevent Watch.
Running time: 53 minutes
